COVID‐19 is now the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Its profound impact on morbidity has been described through its effect on the neurologic, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems. This series was created to unify public health principles with the pathophysiology of COVID‐19 for a better understanding of how future stressors within health systems can be mitigated and proactively managed.
