WHO: More than 100 new physicians, who start residency and fellowship training at UCSF Fresno this week, will take part in a clinical skills orientation.
WHAT: Groups of residents will practice patient care skills under the direction of experienced faculty and resident physicians at UCSF Fresno using a variety of methods, including advanced adult and pediatric simulation mannequins. Suturing skills, oxygen delivery, central line placement (central venous catheterization), airway management and advanced cardiac life support will be among the clinical skills practiced. Residents also will train in communications scenarios with physicians, mock patients and nurses. This clinical skills boot camp is funded by the Leon S. Peters Foundation.
WHEN Friday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Best time for interviews and photo opportunities is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
