UCSF Fresno Doctors Academy Accepting Applications, Interested Students and Parents Invited to Informational Meetings

FRESNO – The University of California, San Francisco Fresno Latino Center for Medical Education and Research (UCSF Fresno Latino Center) will hold informational meetings for its Caruthers, Selma and Sunnyside Doctors Academy programs:

Thursday, Sept. 26, 6 to 7 p.m., Sunnyside High School Library, 1019 S. Peach Ave., Fresno

Monday, Oct.  7, 6 to 7 p.m., Caruthers High School New Media Center, 2580 W. Tahoe Ave., Caruthers

Thursday, Oct. 10, 6 to 7 p.m., Abraham Lincoln Middle School Cafeteria, 1239 Nelson Blvd., Selma
 

Meetings are open to eighth-grade students who are interested in careers in health and medicine and their parents. Participants will learn about the Doctors Academy admissions requirements, program expectations, and how to apply. Staff members will be available to answer questions and provide assistance with the online application.

Eighth-grade students interested in applying to the Caruthers or Selma Doctors Academy programs and who live outside the district will be required to obtain an inter-district transfer approval. Sunnyside Doctors Academy is only open to eighth-grade students within the Fresno Unified School District.

The Doctors Academy program was established in 1999 at Sunnyside High School in Fresno. In 2007, the program was expanded to include programs at Caruthers and Selma high schools.

Applications will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 16, 2019. The deadline to apply is Nov. 8, 2019.
