FRESNO –According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women. The good news is that 80 percent of heart attacks and strokes can be prevented or treated if women know the risk factors, warning signs and what to do. Still, heart disease is just one of the health conditions that impact women.
UCSF Fresno invites women of all ages to attend a free health fair in their honor on Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 3 to 6:30 pm at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research, located at 155 North Fresno Street, at the corner of Divisadero and Fresno streets in downtown Fresno. Free parking will be available in the UCSF Fresno parking lot, with access on Illinois Street.
Experts in cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology and nutrition will discuss health conditions that impact women along with the associated warning signs. Tips for staying healthy also will be shared. Free, 30-minute health screenings, including blood pressure, height, weight, body mass index, cholesterol and glucose readings will be offered as well as nutrition and exercise consultations.
The following faculty physicians at UCSF Fresno and experts will participate in a panel discussion:
